Every endeavour will be made to have you included in a class on the day that suits you best, but as this is determined by the availability of the various tutors, it cannot be guaranteed.

 

 

Computer Basics: 2 weeks, Free. This course is suited to those with little or no experience with a computer or word processing. We prefer that all new members take this course. It allows you to become familiar with our methods and ensures that everyone is able to continue with more comprehensive lessons.

Following this Course you should do either, Windows Vista, Windows XP or the Windows 7 Workshop (depending on what operating system you have in your computer, OR one of the Word Processing Courses.

 

 

Microsoft Word 2003 Levels 1, 2 & 3:  4 weeks, $30 each or $50 per couple per Level. These short courses revise earlier skills and continue to the stage of producing more comprehensive documents, designing certificates etc.  Skills learnt here carry over to other programs.

 

 

Microsoft Word 2007: Stages 1, 2 & 3:   4 weeks, $30.00 or $50 per couple, per stage.  Word Processing using MS Word 2007. Each stage consists of 4 lessons. This is the latest version of MS Word and has great graphic features.

 

 

Open Office Writer:  6 weeks, $40 or $70 couple. This is an alternative free Word Processing program for students who do not have a Microsoft Word program loaded on their computers. The course covers the same topics as Microsoft Word 2003 word processing Level One.

Windows Vista:  3 weeks, $25 each or $40 per couple. An introduction to the Vista Operating system.

 

 

Windows XP:  4 weeks $30 or $50 couple. This course is for creating/deleting files and folders, altering the settings and appearance of the screen, using Find and Help programs, making back-ups, etc.

 

 

File Management:  2 weeks, $20 each or $30 couple. This short course demonstrates alternative file management methods to those shown in the Word Processing Course.

 

 

Internet:  4 weeks, $30 each or $50 couple. This popular course explains and demonstrates the use of E-mail and browsers and shows how to download and save information from the Web, using Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0 together with Outlook Express or Windows Mail for e-mail. Skills learnt can be easily adapted for use with other browsers. You should have Internet access on your home computer before starting this course.

 

Excel Spreadsheets:  6 weeks, $40 each or $70 couple. This course, using Excel, will be of interest to those who wish to keep records and accounts for a small business, a club, or for personal records. It involves the use of formulas for calculations, creates charts and tables, and can be put to many uses.

 

 

Digital Camera:  4 weeks, $30 each or $50 couple.  This course has been designed as an introduction to the use of Digital cameras, and includes Scanning and Picture Enhancement.

 

 

Movie Maker: 3 weeks, $25 each or $40 couple. Course covers photo manipulation using Picasa3, using your photos/movies to create a film strip, adding transitions, music, titles and finally burning to DVD to view on your TV with a DVD player.

 

 

Repeats:  Repeat of the Basics course $5 each.  All other courses can be repeated at any time for a discount of $10 off the course price. This is recommended if you do not feel confident, as a second course will reinforce lessons learnt the first time.

 

 

Workshops: 1 or 2 weeks, $10 per session. These short courses will be on various topics of interest and will be notified in the club’s newsletter. They will include such topics as Using Trade Me, Skype and a Greeting Card Workshop using Word 2007 , Email using Windows Mail, Introduction to Windows 7.
